Cozy up on a Sunday in the Waukee Public Library and learn to knit! In this two hour class you will learn the basics of knitting and leave knowing how to knit a simple scarf. We will cover casting on your stitches, mastering the basic knit stitch and binding off your completed work. All materials for this class are provided and will be yours to keep. Lose your fear of cabled knitting patterns! With this class you'll learn three different cables, tips on techniques, how to read cable patterns and the skills to start knitting cables! Worsted weight yarn and a cable needle are provided. Please bring US 8 needles. Sat., March 26, 10:00 - 11:00 a.m.

Wheel Spinning - The next stage of spinning! Let the good times spin! This class will explore two main styles of spinning, the short and the long drafting technique. Students will receive tips, on completing spins, and a couple plying techniques. The student leaving the class will have a few more tricks for spinning! * students prior to class should practice treadling their wheel, without spinning yarn, prior to class. This is very beneficial for foot memory. * students must have their own working wheel, and bring their own fiber for spinning (wool based) roving * Teacher will be demonstrating with HoneyGold Acres fiber. (Not a rep. for the company) 1:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Make beautiful Heart or Flower brooches using zippers, wool felt and wool roving. This class provides all the materials and will get you started creating. Peruse the Fiberpalooza vendors in the morning, stop for lunch at Cafe' Yarnia and spend the afternoon creating with Rhonda! Saturday, March 26, 12:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Intro to making Yarn, and beginning steps in spinning using a drop spindle This 1 hour class will walk the student through the stages of spinning fiber into yarn. Hands on drafting technique, and learning about the different style of spindles available. Students will have an opportunity to sample spins from different spindles. Students will learn about the tools used, and feel more comfortable in their spinning purchases after this class is completed. * Students are welcome to bring a drop spindle if they already own one. Saturday, March 26, 10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

A single booth is 10'x10' and includes a long table and two chairs. If you don't need a table PLEASE let us know.
