Demonstrations

The Des Moines Knitting Guild will be on hand to wind purchased yarn, give lessons or knitting advice.
The Des Moines Weavers and Spinners will be there to demonstrate and field questions.

Beginner Weaving on a Rigid Heddle Loom - instructor Deb Lundy  9:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
Learn the parts of a Rigid Heddle Loom, terminology, how to warp, weave and finish your project.  $40 includes all materials and use of loom.  Limit of 6.

Continental Knitting - instructor:  Randall Parkin  11:00-Noon
Back every year, this class takes you from 'throwing' to 'picking'.  Knit faster and more efficiently.  $10.  Bring your needles & yarn. Limit of 6.

Learn To Spin on a Wheel - instructor:  Maggie Howe  9:30 a.m. - Noon
Learn to spin wool on a spinning wheel.   $50 includes all needed materials including use of a wheel.   Limit of 6.

Beyond the Basics Spinning - instructor:  Maggie Howe  1:30-3:30 p.m.
Learn to make fun and funky art yarn!  To take this class you must know how to spin a single ply yarn and be comfortable with basic plying.  Find more information on this class on the registration page (the link is above).   $50 includes materials.  Limit of 6.

Learn Needle Tatting - Instructor:  Alyssa Tadlock  1:00 - 2:00 p.m
Learn how to make lacy tatted embellishments using a single needle.  $15 includes materials.  Limit of 6.

All About Yarn - Instructor:  Randall Parkin  1:00 - 3:00 p.m.
This class will help you understand yarn.  All the weights, fiber content, care and how to choose the right yarn for your pattern.  Find out what homework you need for this class at the registration link above.  $20 includes educational handouts  Limit 15


Learn to Knit - Instructor:  The Heartland Fiber Goddesses  9:30 - 11:00 a.m.
Learn the basics of knitting:  casting on, the knit stitch, binding off and if time allows, the purl stitch.  Materials included.  $15
